Priced by the hour of video, not by the clip

Reading a video costs in proportion to how long it is; cutting a clip out of one does not. So a plan buys hours of video analysed, and comes with enough rendered clips included for what those hours usually give you.

Prices in USD, excluding tax. Cancel any time — a yearly plan runs to the end of the year you paid for.

More than Studio’s 27 hours a month?

Past Studio the sensible thing is a conversation. Four of them, usually:

  • A bigger allowance than Studio
  • A render preset built with your designer
  • A data processing agreement, for whoever signs this off
  • A straight answer about how your footage is handled

Questions

What is a credit?

A minute of video analysed. A 40-minute episode costs 40 credits to read, whatever you do with it afterwards. After that, searching it for a particular moment or reading it again costs a few credits (one per four minutes of video), and rewriting a post costs one. Every plan also includes a batch of rendered clips — 80 on Starter — and those cost nothing at all. Past them an export is 3 credits, which is roughly what one costs us to render.

What counts as a rendered clip?

A clip you actually cut: you press Cut it, and a finished video file comes out. The moments the analysis finds are not clips — look at them, trim them, play them as often as you like, and nothing is counted until you render one. A render that fails is given back.

So are clips metered or not?

Not until you are well past normal use. The included rendered clips are twenty for every hour of video the plan buys, and typical use is around ten — so on Starter you would have to cut 80 rendered clips out of four hours of material before an export costs anything. We would rather you exported more, not less; the threshold is there to stop a four-hour plan turning into 700 clips, not to charge you for the ones you actually want.

What happens when I run out of credits?

Analysis and new exports stop until the period rolls over or you move up a plan. Nothing is deleted and nothing is billed on top: everything already made stays where it is and still downloads.

What happens when I fill the storage?

New uploads are refused until you make room, and nothing of yours is ever deleted to create it. We would rather tell you than quietly remove the oldest thing you made — that is the kind of decision you find out about months later, when it is too late to undo.

Is a yearly plan cheaper?

Twelve months for the price of eight — a third off, on all three plans. What it does not change is the allowance: a yearly Starter still gets 240 credits a month, and they come back on the same day every month rather than arriving as 2,880 to spend whenever you like. You are buying the same plan, paid for once instead of twelve times.

Does the free trial renew every month?

No, and that is deliberate. It is thirty credits granted once, with no card — one half-hour episode and ten clips out of it.

Where do the finished files go?

Into your clip library, kept for the window your plan states, and the MP4 downloads in one click. Rendering happens on our machines, so nothing has to be installed and a four-hour episode does not tie up your laptop.

Can I see it before I pay anything?

Yes — with your own video rather than ours. The trial is thirty credits and asks for no card: upload a half-hour episode, read the whole moment list and its scores, and cut clips from it. A workspace starts empty on purpose, so the first thing in it is something you made.

Can I cancel whenever I want?

Yes, from billing settings — a button, not an email to support. The plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and simply does not renew after that.

What if I want a refund?

Write to intheclips.business@gmail.com within 14 days of paying. Spend 5% or less of the credits that period includes and the whole price comes back; spend more and we keep the share you actually used and return the rest — a fifth of the credits gone, four fifths of the price back. We do not ask why and there is no form to fill in.

See the detail

On a yearly plan the credits counted are the whole year's, so a year can never lose more than a month of itself to that. After the 14 days the period you have paid for is not refunded, on a yearly plan as on a monthly one, and cancelling simply stops the next one. The 14 days run from the payment that opened the subscription and a renewal does not start fresh ones, because a renewal is the same agreement carrying on. The trial is thirty credits and asks for no card, so the 14 days do not have to be the first time you see it work.

How quickly do you answer?

We answer within 24 hours on working days, at intheclips.business@gmail.com. One address, read by the person who wrote the pipeline — there is no ticket queue and no bot in front of it.
